They are trying to manage their way out of this. The other approach is to innovate out of this, like, say, cloning at scale. Well, they can also let in a lot of immigrants.

There are 16 Pearl harbor survivors alive. https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/07/us/pearl-harbor-anniversary-survivors/index.html I thought there was a nip in the air today.

If you only want to read the lipstick bit, here it is: Nurses used their lipsticks to mark the foreheads of the wounded as to whether they had received morphine or a tetanus shot. Which is about what I expected before clicking into the article.

I visited Blenheim Palace many years ago. I wouldn't mind living there, without the tourists.

They get a lot of help. Don't most federal agencies have their own police forces? Then each branch of the military has a police force. The Capitol police became well known 4 years ago. I know the Smithsonian has some form of police. Then there are county, city, sheriff and state police in neighboring MD and VA. And of course private police and corporate security forces. Let's not forget FBI and Secret Service.

@Axtremus said in How can this woman retain her Medical License?: @Mik said in How can this woman retain her Medical License?: Yes. As I've learned et past couple years, research is exacting but there's no guarantee of usable results. I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that you have only learnt this in the past couple years. I have been producing unusable research results since grade school. Okay, that was pretty funny.

It's OK to be confused. Some people can only deal with binary options (e.g., "no god or one god", "man or woman"). Some other folks can better deal with complexities and spectra ("any number of gods, inclusive of real, fractional, and multi dimensional numbers", "any interpolation between and extrapolation beyond the two classical gender archetypes, and the time variability thereof").

If ever there was a role begging to be played by Aubrey Plaza, this is it. I'm not sure who'd play Jon.

@Horace said in Acting Secret Service Director: All government career climbers are politicians, and vice versa. This was an amusing interaction with the acting chief of the SS. Link to video I knew a policeman who said 'Never trust a man who dyes his hair.'
